I love my job.

I fully and wholeheartedly believe that God meant for me to be in this position. There was no way that I would have ever even heard of the organization if it wasn’t for knowing certain people, being in the right place at the right time, and my supervisor’s (what I see as) unwarranted and absolute confidence in me.

So here is a list of some of the reasons why my job is awesome: I love working with people I like talking to. I actually like doing the unending paperwork and case notes (this will probably change). I like not worrying about money. I like praying before and after staff meetings. I like playing “Friday” on Fridays. I like, after all the hard work of getting a family licensed for foster care, seeing a smiling, happy little girl in her new pink room, full of new clothes and love from her new foster parents, and swimming in the back yard like she doesn’t have a care in the world. I love seeing God’s love exhibited in a real way. In difficult, awful situations, God stretches out his arms to his children through amazing parents. I am just so thankful. I did nothing to deserve this.

Music Monday

Thrice is one of my favorite bands. This song is from their new album, Major/Minor, which comes out on September 20th. I CAN’T WAIT. I love Beggars, but I love that this song is harder than the songs on that album. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next.

I may or may not be getting their lyrics tattooed on my body. I love them that much.

Life has been SO nuts lately! This is my second week of full time work and I must say I am loving it. My job is the best. I work with some awesome ladies and we chat and have fun all day, while getting to help kids! It’s pretty great. The other day I got to place two kids in a home with some AWESOME foster parents, so I was super happy about that.
We just moved into our new offices and I can’t wait to decorate! Here’s my little desk space

In less important news, I am housesitting, which is great monetarily, but I am just missing being in Tempe! I really do love my city. I can’t wait until it’s cool enough to ride my bike around again.

I really need to become better at blogging.

day 06 – a song that reminds you of a certain event

This song will always remind me of Coachella 2010 because that is when I fell in love with it.

day 05 – a song that reminds you of somewhere

Taking Back Sunday always reminds me of driving down the 1 in California, windows down, with the ocean air coming in.

day 04 – a song that reminds you of someone

day 03 – a song that makes you sad

I love songs that make you feel something. In honor of Emery coming into town tomorrow night (I loved them in high school. ah, memories), I am posting a song by them. This song makes me sad for so many reasons. I love it though.

Of course, it’s the acoustic version to add to the sad factor.

Wishlist

Recently, I have done a lot less shopping. Thrift stores are my friends. I have been working part-time for the past six months, which doesn’t allow for much extra spending. But I do have a major soft spot for new shoes and bags (and by that I mean I rarely buy used shoes or bags). Also, I love home decor stuff.

So I’ve basically just been putting all the stuff I want on an Amazon wishlist, so I can go back when I get the funds and buy things again. Here’s a peek into some things currently on my wishlist:

Modcloth Bathing Beauty one piece swimsuit

I have been majorly lusting over vintage-inspired one piece swimsuits for this summer, and I have heard nothing but good things about this one from Modcloth. It’s just perfect! And I feel like it would be flattering on me. One day…

Modcloth A Wiser Workplace desk set

I am just in love with owls. Since I will be starting work full-time soon (aka I will have my own desk!), I feel like this would be a good purchase for me. I already keep an owl mug at work, and he needs a friend :)

Let’s Go Ride Bikes block print

I love this little print! I would love to get a bunch of bicycle themed art to decorate my house. I just love bikes.

madden girl Coazter

I have been drooling over these shoes for the past few months. They are perfect. I am obsessed with coral this summer for some reason.

Modcloth Scoops of Flower measuring spoons

The sad thing is, I have these, but my tablespoon went mysteriously missing, and another spoon is chipped :( I would love to get another set when they come back in stock!

What’s on your summer wishlists??

Thrift finds

I was bummed in April when my favorite local thrift store closed. I could always find a treasure there, and Goodwill is just not the same. So yesterday I went and checked out a new thrift store called Epic Stores, and I really liked it! Thrift shopping in Phoenix is redeemed! And I got a dress for $3 :) Though I’m still not too sure how to make it work yet… any ideas?

This, my friends, is Karl Pilkington. He is the most hilarious man known to man. If you haven’t seen the TV series, “An Idiot Abroad,” you must look it up and watch it right now. We are now theming our Family Dinner nights around which episode we’re going to watch that night. Next Monday is India. I is so excite.
